Step 1

In a bowl, mix gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida, and salt. Add yogurt and oil, then mix well. Gradually add water to form a soft dough. Add baking soda and knead lightly.

Step 2

Use a farsan maker (sev press) to create thin, biscuit -like strands from the dough. Alternatively, roll small pieces of dough into shapes if a press is unavailable.

Step 3

Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Once hot, press the dough into the oil in circular motions or fry the rolled pieces in batches. Fry until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 4

Let the farsan cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container.
